Beyrege's Super Iftar 2009

Beyrege's super iftar 2009 turned out to be a huge success with as many as 60 people turning up. More than 180 Photos from this even are now viewable on this site and on facebook. The inceasing number of successul events have led me to creating a new parent folder dedicated to the House of Beyrege.

Thanks to everyone who contributed financially and to all those who helped in making the event a successful one.

Until next time, Cheers.

Beyrege: The Great 2008 - 09 Meetup

As scheduled Beyrege 2008/9 meetup happened on 16 Dec 2008. The turnout, according to some, was about 98 percent.

For those who made it to the event, an opportunity to meet and greet relatives under one roof is something that they seem to talk about and appreciate. Little effort from everyone made this event possible. Uncle Zubair offered the outdoor space/venue. Relatives from each house prepared a dish or a drink and we had plenty of food and drink for sharing among all. Cousin Rafiu, brother Zahid and friend Dhagandaa were the official photographers and plenty of pictures were captured on camera. History is made and it is hoped that pictures will tell the story. For those involved a BIG thank you from me. Click here to see more pictures. These pictures are also available for download in a closed group called Beyrege Gulhun on facebook.com.

Please fasten your seat belts as I am headed your way in a week's time.

The famous designer Ahmed Zahid has knifed logo samples for a possible Beyrege Club aimed exclusively at those who are born into ‘Beyrege’ family in Feydhoo, Addu Atoll, in the Maldives.

I am connected to Beyrege family from my mom’s side. The family has grown in size and many have since long shifted to Male’ the capital city for economic reasons. Younger members living aloof from Feydhoo don’t know many of their relatives and family relationships are full of dust. So I decided to take the initiative and to become the ring leader to revive the family connections by setting up a social club and various social events.

It is good to have a nice logo and I like the first one. The logo has come in time for the first event for which a backdrop is essential. The photo shoot which is to be held in Feydhoo, Addu Atoll on the 16th of December 2008 is the first ever social event and it is going to be BIG. This event is for members residing in Addu plus all those who have expressed interest in joining the trip. I am glad there is good support so far. There will be another photo shoot in January for those others living in Male’.

The social club 'Beyrege Gulhun' will offer membership for Beyrege members for a fee for those in employment and for FREE for those who have no income. Self-employed or wealthy members are requested to offer a bit more. Returns will of course be accounted for and audited annually. Chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, coordinators and a number of other positions are to be elected from the first dinner meeting to be held in January 2009.

Members please fasten your seat belts as I am headed your way in a week's time.
